Building Considerations, TP'ing, Themes and the Long Term, Personal Zones

Hey all.  With some recent server growth, it makes sense to talk about a few things to help make the MC experience fun for everyone on the server.

Building Considerations
Firstly, I know personally I am very concerned about style and purpose when building on the server.  Random objects on the landscape with no style or flow bug me.  Over time, when people just build stuff all over with no thought, the server gets ugly.  However, I don't want to stop you from making anything you want!  I made a massive Spongebob once that honestly was awesome, but didn't fit in at all with our area.  I guess part of it is because some people use their imaginations and sort of roll play.  If we are building a medieval themed area and someone comes along and builds their version of a giant Crabby Patty, then there is a problem, lol.


So, in the future, consider some things when building your project.

1. Is where I'm planning on building near someone else's project?  If so, don't build there without asking.  If someone can see your project, you are in their area.
2. Is what I'm planning on building fit with the theme of the area?  If so, by all means build it.  If it isn't, move out of site of that area and have at it.

Teleporting (TP'ing)

Some people do NOT like to be teleported to without you asking them.  You might knock them into lava or they may be building a private, secretive place and don't want to be bothered.  So, moving forward, out of courtesy, ASK before TP'ing to someone unless you know for sure they don't care.

Themes and the Long Term
We've had enough servers and worlds to observe how things can get out of control building-wise and destruction-wise when there is no plan or focus on the server.  So, please consider a few things for the long term good of our server.

1. Try to work on themed areas together.  MC is most fun when playing with friends on a project!
2. Try not to just randomly build an thing or object unless it is in your own personal zone - see below.
3. Try to avoid massive landscape destruction.  If you remove trees from a large area, please replant them.  If you take buckets of water or ruin shore lines, try to smooth them back out.

Personal Zones
Want to build a Minecraft scale version of Bikini Bottom?  Want to make a massive version of your  Minecraft face?  That's kool!  Just do it your own zone!

If you are interested in building a whole bunch of personal things, find a personal zone on the server and claim it for yourself.  Build whatever you want there!  No one can complain.  Try to claim an area not visible to a themed area.
